THE SHOW: The multimedia show includes dialogue between live and recorded characters, live mixing of tracks with simultaneous live vocals, and comedy skits. On stage there is a video projector, screen, laptop, costume rack, folding table and chair and preformed. Will stands in front of or to the side of the projected images and interacts with images: either mixing tracks live with audience participation while preforming musical vocals or by speaking to and reacting to the video on the screen behind the preformed. Up to 2 hours. Videos feature religious medieval art, images projected onto a perfect field of snow at night, and an animated Santa Claus with his butt on fire. Costume changes, characters, voice modulation: this is theatrical one man multimedia show. Provocative, entertaining, humorous, frightening, surprising. THE CD: Unique (challenge: compare it to anything else), this work is a rock-hip hop-spoken word-comedy-funk fusion. The music includes samples from found records, Indian music, Turkish psychedelic 60s music, German children's music -- and that's just one song. Found sounds massed into funky rock and roll. A double album with 38 tracks, the lyrical content ranges from worshiping the bomb (That Bomb),finding a friend's girlfriend naked on the web (Emergency), comedy (Alien Crotch Honey), eating people (Pox on You), shooting the Pope (My Big Gun), sharing a can or corn with a baboon (Can of Corn), listening to fleas with a stethoscope (Flea Song), burning heretics (Angelic Barbecue), driving without a seat (Driving on a Bucket), and rural life (It's Good). You know, your basic pop themes. The CD packaging is an 8-panel montage of oil paintings and ink drawings by Will E.P.
THE ARTIST: Working in hip hop in the early days (please see arbrecordings.com for former exploits MP3s, press clippings), then leaving it entirely, Will E.P. is back. He produced all the music on the CD, wrote and recorded all the lyrics, filmed and edited the videos for the live production, painted the oil paintings featured on the CD packaging, preforms all the works live from memory while simultaneously manipulating tracks on a laptop and made the website. Back on the scene, like Don Quixote. Missing a hand, locked in dungeon by pirates and arrested by the King, like Cervantes. No-- that didnt happen to me. Wait, third person, Will E.P.
A well-off, successful businessman in New York (see glencadia.com) with money, family, an estate-like perfect house, 3 horses, and health, Will has a lot to loose. This must be something I have to do, he said, otherwise, I wouldnt be doing it. |
